Garmin Asus A50 smartphone

Garmin and Asus' collaboration has resulted in yet another smartphone in the form of the Android-powered A50, where it comes with a 3.5" HVGA resolution capacitive touchscreen display, 4GB of storage space with a microSD memory card slot to augment the amount of data that you can store within. It will rely on a finger-friendly user interface, so there is no need to worry about losing a stylus to begin with. In order to uphold the good name of Garmin, the A50 relies on satellite, network-based and terrestrial sources to find out where you are exactly, using Garmin's pre-loaded turn-by-turn navigation, lane assist with junction view and maps to help you reach your destination soonest possible. Other features include on-device synchronization with Microsoft Exchange server, support for the plethora of Google mobile services and a 3-megapixel autofocus camera among others. It will hit Europe in the first half of this year, with no word on its pricing just yet. [Press Release]

- DVD sales took a major hit in 2008, a trend many insiders attribute to the rising popularity of live video streaming. The streaming phenomenon may also be adversely affecting the TV industry, as TiVo lost over 300,000 subscribers during just the last quarter. [From: TV By the Numbers]
- The next time you're home alone enjoying 'Gigli' on TiVo, comforted in the belief that you're safe from judgmental eyes, remember that Google may actually be monitoring you. The site is reportedly going to track TiVo "viewing data" to help determine what, if any, advertisements the service's subscribers are actually watching. [From: CNET]
- eBay is unrolling some mobile upgrades today, as well as an entirely new app known as 'Deals.' The site has already produced some staggering numbers with its previous mobile services. To that end, eBay claims that every month it attracts 750,000 unique mobile viewers, who, it believes, will spend more than $500 million on goods this year. [From: Tech Crunch]
