HTC Droid Incredible getting FroYo update by August at worst

HTC Droid Incredible getting FroYo update by August at worst

Word has just gone out that the HTC Droid Incredible (read our review) will be receiving the long awaited FroYo (Android 2.2) update by the end of this month at best, or early next month if things go awry – this is different from what we reported earlier. This new update will unlock 802.11n Wi-Fi connectivity in your device, offering other features such as 3G Mobile Hot Spot and 720p video recording among others. If you have recently purchased a Droid Incredible, we would say that this is pretty good news since some other folks have to wait until a platform is obsolete before a software update is issued.

HTC Vision Pictured With Sliding QWERTY Keyboard?

We recently heard a few whispers of a HTC Vision, though details weren't exactly abundant at that time. Now a picture of what is apparently the HTC Vision has surfaced, and if it's legit, it looks like HTC will be churning out an Android-powered device that sports a physical QWERTY keyboard, which is quite rare nowadays. If the rumored details are accurate, this device will sport features such as:

Asus Eee PC 1015PD and 1005PED confirmed for US release

Asus Eee PC 1015PD and 1005PED confirmed for US release

Both the Asus Eee PC 1015PD and 1005PED have been confirmed for a US release according to a US-based Asus representative, where they will feature a new case design that will help them stand out from the rest of the Asus Eee PC 1005 series of netbooks which have already penetrated the local market here for the better part of the year. Depending on your budget as well as needs, these will come in a choice of Intel Atom N450 1.66GHz, Intel Atom N455 1.66GHz or Intel Atom N475 1.83GHz processors, where the latter two will be able to handle the faster DDR3 RAM instead of the N450's DDR2 memory for superior performance. While pricing might be in the region of the rest of the Eee PC 1005 series, do expect to fork out a premium for the high end model that will offer future-proof (at least for a while) features such as Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity. Now for an official announcement from Asus...

Scubster pedal-powered submarine

Scubster pedal-powered submarine

I don't know about you, but I for one would definitely not want to take any chances in a pedal-powered submarine like the Scubster. This streamlined carbon fiber mode of transportation is capable of hitting 10kph (6.2mph) top speed if you pedal hard enough, where substantial calories will be burned to drive the blades on each side of the sub via a customized gear mechanism and belt drive from a Strida bike. Controls within the 'cockpit' will help you guide the Scubster up, down, left and right, without compromising on features such as angle of incidence and forward or reverse motion. Hopefully there is some sort of backup power supply just in case I'm too tired to move those legs of mine any more, lest I perish in ignomity under the crushing weight of pressure and depth. On the bright side, at least this is another eco-friendly mode of transportation underwater, giving some slack to the already beleaguered marine life off the Gulf Coast.

How to Manage Passwords In Any Browser And On Any OS [Security]

I want a universal password manager—something that can work with any browser and any OS—and I want it to be simple, secure, and completely dummy-proof. Turns out that such a thing actually exists. Meet LastPass.

Lifehacker's Kevin has a great guide to how LastPass works and how you can get the most out of it, but here's one of the most important things to keep in mind:

[T]he only thing stored on LastPass' servers is a heavily encrypted bundle of your passwords and the sites they belong to-a form of host-proof hosting. They don't have the encryption key to your passwords (only you do), and the encryption and decrypting all takes place on your own computer, where a backup copy of LastPass' records is always kept. If LastPass became evil, or got hacked, the nefarious doers would have to buy one of Google's server farms to break into its users' passwords.

Sold? I am and will be giving LastPass a shot. You can read all about the password manager's features such as browser extensions, one-time passwords, bookmarklets, secure notes, and mobile app compatibility over at Lifehacker. [Lifehacker]
