LaCie Brings Ultra Compact MosKeyto USB Stick to Laptops

LaCie Brings Ultra Compact MosKeyto USB Stick to Laptops

LaCieLaCie is back at it again, and this time the company's rolling out its MosKeyto line of USB drives, which are ultra compact and will barely protrude from your laptop's USB port. According to the company, the USB memory stick will only extend out 6 mm from your laptop, and are available in 4 GB and 8 GB storage sizes. It does come with a cap to keep things safe and secure, and can be attached to a key ring for the portability to tote around any files or photos you may want to share. The only caveat is that you'd probably have to attach this tiny thing to something bigger for fear of losing it!

The 4 GB version for $18 while the larger 8 GB capacity will go for $28 from LaCie.

Latest Rumored Delays Behind Google Music Service Makes 2010 Launch Unlikely

Latest Rumored Delays Behind Google Music Service Makes 2010 Launch Unlikely

The latest rumors behind Google Music, a streaming music service, may make the launch of said service unlikely for 2010. Google Music was at one point rumored to appear alongside Android 3.0 Gingerbread, but it seems that Android head Andy Rubin is no where close to securing a deal with record labels in time for the holidays. If true, this could potentially delay the launch of Google Music to 2011, though Reuters is reporting that record labels are still open on trying to break free of Apple's control of the music industry with its iTunes ecosystem.

Sony Ericsson Wants to Be Largest Android Smartphone Maker

Sony Ericsson Wants to Be Largest Android Smartphone Maker

Smartphone maker Sony Ericsson, once fully committed to Symbian UIQ interface before going with Windows Mobile on its first XPERIA handset, is now eyeing the burgeoning Android market. According to Sony Ericsson, the company intends on being the number one supplier of Android smartphones in terms of sheer market share, which is quite a lofty goal considering that Sony Ericsson only has a 17 percent worldwide market share for Android handsets, and its X10 Android smartphone, running on Android 1.6, was only recently launched in the U.S. with carrier AT&T.

Sony Ericsson will probably have an uphill battle with its goal. In the U.S., it will have to battle against Motorola and Verizon Wireless for the Droid brand supremacy, and worldwide the maker will need to fight a tough war against HTC with its growing Android portfolio and Samsung with its latest aggressive push behind the Galaxy brand.

Verizon Now Offering Prepaid Plans with Smartphone Options

Verizon Now Offering Prepaid Plans with Smartphone Options

After a bit of rumors about its prepaid options for smartphones, Verizon Wireless has finally taken off the wraps on its prepaid plans and are welcoming smartphone users who are too commitmentphobic to jump on a two-year standard contract in the U.S. The carrier's move to add prepaid smartphones to its prepay service comes at a time when that market is intensifying, with T-Mobile offering contract-free

plans and Sprint's prepaid subsidiaries offering attractive data options.

With Verizon Wireless, you'll be able to get the hottest and latest smartphones on a prepay, contract-free plan, such as the new Droid X, Droid 2, Droid Incredible, LG Ally, range of BlackBerry smartphones, and others. According to the U.S. carrier, smartphones will have an option for "$30 monthly access. Multimedia phone customers also have the option of selecting a new $10 monthly data package for 25 MB per month ($.20/MB overage)."

Chrome 6 Launched on Browser’s Second Birthday

Chrome 6 Launched on Browser's Second Birthday

A mere two years after Google had released its first iteration of the Chrome browser, the company is now releasing version 6, which promises security patches, speed improvements, and extensions and sync features. According to Brian Rakowski, Chrome's product development manager, Chrome 6 is three times faster at parsing JavaScript than the 2008 version.

Another important thing that will start appearing with Chrome 6 and future releases is support for hardware acceleration, which will shift some of the heavy lifting away from the CPU and onto the graphics chip. This should deliver better results, especially with graphics-intensive chores like rendering videos. According to Google, the Mac and Windows client of Chrome will get hardware acceleration powered by different technologies, and it's unclear at this time if and how Linux will get its own hardware acceleration technology.

Study Finds 72 Percent of Adults Now Texting in U.S.

Study Finds 72 Percent of Adults Now Texting in U.S.

The number of texters have increased in America, and the latest study finds that 72 percent of adults in the U.S. are now texting. Some are citing the higher prices of a la carte pay as you go texting options and the lower prices of unlimited texting plans as reasons for the increase in the number of texting adults, but one thing's for sure--the technology is catching on.

According to the "Cell Phones and American Adults" study by the Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project, the number of American adult texters have increased year over year. This year, we're seeing 72% of adults texting, up from 65% last year and 58% in 2007. But adults aren't the only ones texting. In fact, for every ten SMS messages that adults send or receive, teens are sending 50.

Sony Justifies Higher Price E-Readers With More Features

Sony Justifies Higher Price E-Readers With More Features

Sony is taking the opposite route of its big rivals Amazon and Barnes & Noble with its own branded E-Reader electronic-ink based digital book reading devices. Unlike Amazon, which has introduced lower prices for the latest Kindle, and Barnes & Noble, which has engaged in a price war with its nook to remain competitive against the Kindle, Sony is taking quite the opposite approach. Rather than reducing prices, Sony is adding more features to its Sony E-Reader to justify a price hike of about $20 over the previous generation E-Readers.

Navteq aims to make navigation more human

Navteq aims to make navigation more human

Navteq is a household name when it comes to GPS technology, and the company aims to make their service a whole lot more human thanks to the introduction of Natural Guidance. This service will drop traditional GPS navigation instructions and will instead provide users with directions which they would have received from friends or family anyways. For example, the system won't spew "turn right in 150 feet" but will instead include "turn right after the yellow shop," or "turn right at the traffic signal," in order to make it a whole lot more intuitive and practical when it comes to giving directions. Of course, the implementation of Natural Guidance won't be easy at all, since current GPS services will still go by street names and distance. Currently, Navteq's Natural Guidance can be used in Chicago, London, Los Angeles, Paris, Berlin, and New York, with plans to roll out support for additional cities around the world before 2011 is over. Unfortunately, this won’t prevent people from driving into a
